Mir Rug

CHF 600.00

Handmade Indian Mir rug in wool on cotton, with a repetitive Boteh pattern on an ivory background and ornamental brick red borders. A new condition piece, ideal for elegantly decorating a living room or living space.

This Mir rug is a beautiful example of Indian textile craftsmanship inspired by Persian traditions. Its central ivory field is entirely covered with the famous Boteh pattern, a small stylized rhombus, ancestor of Paisley, arranged in a regular grid. This “Mir-e-Boteh” design gives the piece a sober and timeless character.

The multiple borders enrich the composition. The main border, a deep brick red, features stylized geometric and animal motifs (deer, gazelles), a sign of traditional village influence. Finer guards in navy blue and brown frame the whole with precision. The intact ivory fringes bear witness to its excellent state of preservation.

Hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation, this rug offers a regular knot density and a homogeneous pile. Its warm palette – ivory, brown, brick red, a touch of blue – integrates naturally into contemporary interiors as well as more classic ambiances.

With its almost square dimensions (218 × 227 cm), it is perfect under a dining table, in the center of a living room, or as a centerpiece in an office. Its condition is described as new: no wear, no visible defects.
