Abstract Composition — Madiano Tomei

Abstract composition signed by Madiano Tomei, oil on cardboard in warm yellow-orange tones on an intense cobalt blue background. Unique piece framed under glass, transparent aluminum frame.

This abstract work by Madiano Tomei demonstrates the mastery of an artist with a remarkable international career. Born in Milan in 1936, Tomei studied with Jacques Maes and Devos at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels before settling in Brazil in 1954, where he developed a personal plastic language, nourished by the Brazilian landscapes and culture.

The composition features a constructivist figure with interlocking geometric shapes, rendered in warm tones of yellow, ocher, orange, and red. These shapes stand out against a deep cobalt blue background that gives them striking dynamism. The overall appearance evokes a totemic silhouette, a recognizable signature of Tomei's style.

The work is oil on cardboard and is in good overall condition. It is signed on the lower left by the artist. The painting is presented in a brushed aluminum frame with transparent glass, elegant and modern, which perfectly highlights the piece.

Madiano Tomei has exhibited in numerous galleries in Europe and Brazil, notably at the Renoir Gallery in Brussels, the Salon d'Automne in Paris (bronze medal in 1953, silver medal in 1960), as well as in Geneva and São Paulo. This provenance significantly enhances the value of this piece.
