Hand-knotted Kashan Persian rug in wool on wool, large size 362 × 250 cm. Piece with a central floral medallion, in a classic terracotta, navy blue, and ivory palette.
This Kashan-type Persian rug embodies the ancestral savoir-faire of Iranian workshops. Its elaborate central medallion, surrounded by a dense field of floral motifs, arabesques, and scrollwork, demonstrates remarkable craftsmanship. The Mahi (or Herati) pattern unfurls with precision across the entire surface.
The traditional three-color palette combines deep terracotta red, indigo navy blue, and touches of ivory. The colors, still vibrant, show a natural softening due to the patina of time. This chromatic evolution gives the piece a warmth and depth that only an antique rug can offer.
Hand-knotted in pure wool on a wool warp, this rug displays a high knot density, visible in the fineness of the patterns. The multiple borders, adorned with floral and boteh (drop) motifs, are perfectly finished. The cotton fringes are clean and well-preserved.
The overall condition is excellent. There is slight, uniform wear, with no damaged areas, as well as a very slight drop in the fringes. Its generous dimensions (362 × 250 cm) make it an ideal piece to adorn a living room, dining room, or large office.
